ldypaw created the topic: Breeding Veil tail Oscars

I know the majority of our members are very much against veil tail oscars, but I think they are lovely and would like to breed them. My question is would I breed a veil tail to a normal oscar so that they are healthier or would I just find two different batches of veil tail oscars to try to find a pair?

i would say veil tails are not natural and some how it's designed by breeders???? correct me if i'm wrong please.

I would say to maybe breed them with a reg O and get a better gene...but you're get a 50/50 chance of having veil tails ... trial and error??? sorry if i didn't help at all ...

i do like veil tails .. but with up keeping them from not having ripped fins and fin rot .... just too much ....

in-theory it will provide better and healthier gene .. but again ... there are chances that nothing will change ... so i would say ... 50/50 .... lol

The only way to "shore" up the genetic health of a fish is to cross it to wild or f1's of wild stock
