due to the persistent topic that crop up every now and then,
i decided to check my lady grey belly and black stripe. now
i can safely say the female has the Oo vents while the male
has the oo openings. but i am biased since i know which one
is the male and female and i feel bad that when i decided to
do it, my camera is with my son...

sooner or later, i will have that venting in video footage.
my two oscars are very tamed already and doesn't make big
splashing when netted.

yes... venting does work about 3 outta 4 times or more...

just to give you update.... i had notice that my female
o had develop a lump in the abdomen where i squeezes for
venting.... i am worried since necro and one member here
had just lost their o with big abdomen. i hope it won't
go that far.....

hope you have not caused an internal rupture by squeezing to vent......

i don't think you have to squeeze anything, plus you only have to do it once

I'm waiting for the vet to teach me how to do this. Once I get the idea I will share it here. I know that besides what he calls "physical exam" (I figure venting) he does take a sample, with a sterilized probe, from the reproductive cavity looking for sperm or eggs visible under the microscope.

I doubt someone as careful as you would harm a fish. Maybe she is constipated or getting ready to lay eggs?
