Hi, I have had just two Oscars from babies, and I consider myself extremely lucky, because 1 month ago they bred, unfortunately all the eggs were eaten, but last thursday they laid again, this time my son rescued them and put them in a tank on their own, a lot were destroyed by fungus, but today about 1-2 dozen hatched, I thought that it would take another 3-4 days before they fell off the slate, but they are all hopping about the substrate in the tank, can anyone tell me how long it takes for them to grow to 1 1/2 inches

Maybe 2 months, if their diet is adequate, what have you been feeding them? Brine shrimp is usually good at this point

Hi, have not fed them anything because have been out all day and they had hatched when I got home, as they are only 4 days from being laid, I thought they would still be attached to the yolk sac!

The egg yolk last approx four days. Brine shrimp should work for now then eventually the mini pellets. It's really great news. Congrats on the pups. I am very happy for you!

Yes you are fine no need to feed until the 4 day mark. What are your plans for the little ones?

Thank you, I have kept Oscars for many years, 6 of which were twice the size of the ones I have now, but this is the first time any of them have bred

You should go to your LFS and either pick up a Brine shrimp kit, which is easy to use and gives you fresh food. Or some powder fry food
