Today I discovered that my 2 Oscar pairs have both layed eggs overnight.
The eggs are at either end of the tank. Good news is that these are my top quality singapore oscars Bad news is that I don't have any free tanks and this is my first experience with breeding oscars

This lay is on a rock:

This lay is on the bottom of the tank:

Not sure if I should leave them in the tank or get rid of the devil in the 2' and use it as a breeding tank. I suppose I could wait until they hatch and syphon them into a fry cage.

Nice to see a pair of breeders, we'll look forward to the next couple of days. What are you going to do if you have let us say 100 surviving young?

Thanks guys,

I'll advertise on the government intranet and do the LFS round. Will probably keep a few for myself and anything left will become fish food.

These are very good quality Oscars that show a lot of colour very young so I should be able to move them.

How long since they laid. If possible, try and get some photos of the whole process, if that's not too much to ask? Good information for the website.

Here is an overview of where the 2 pairs laid their eggs yesterday:

Spawn 1:

Spawn 2:

Today both pairs ate their eggs! My hatchery wasn't ready so there was little I could do to salvage the eggs:

Oh well, I'll be ready next time. At least I know I have breeding pairs.

I picked up an 8.5 litre plastic container to use as a hatchery. I plan to put a small electronic heater and a bubble lift filter in it. Food will be specialist fry food from LFS.

What do you guys think (for next time)?
