okay put both my oscars in a bigger tank as they needed one plus bigger is always better they seem much more happy now and ive put a plate in for now as i was told somthing smooth and all i had at had. the male is cleaning it constantly and the female laid her eggs the other day but when i got back in theve gone hes once again cleaning.
cleaning then bringing her over to see his good work hahaha so comical to watch
should i turn the light out and leave it off for them to lay in peace as they eat there seemes to never be eggs there for long

Unfortunatly this is a common thing,,, try covering the tank for a few days and not feeding for a while,,,dont worry oscars can go a very long time without food despite their huge appitites...HTHS
Enjoy each day like its your last

Are you certain that you have a male and female? Quite often when they are cleaning and going through this type of behaviour, their sexual organs will be showing, have a good look underneath them

Both the Oscars will clean the rock and excavate her substrate.
The next time the female start laying eggs, have a look under what you think is the Male, he should have a small spike sticking out of him.

I have got to Green Severums that I have since found out are 2 females. Green Severums breed exactly the same as Oscars. Thing is, they behave like a breeding pair. Both of them clean the surface of what ever they are going to lay eggs on, they chase each other around. When they lay eggs, they are both around the area and one of them even swims across the top of the eggs after they have been laid. However, I have twice seen both of them laying eggs so I know there is no male. Oscars will do this as well.

OFL odd that you say that since day one that i got my two gold severums they have been chasing each other all over the place and seem to come to rest on the same spot behind a big rock.

wonder if mine are going through the same thing as yr greens?
