today my O's laid their second batch of eggs in 2 weeks, they laid probably over a week ago actually, the eggs hatched but the wrigglers slowly died off and after 2 days of hatching they were all gone.
im wondering if i should remove the fresh eggs from the tank, as i really want a batch of little O's to sell. this is about the 5 or 6th time they've laid in the time of had them (from babies) which is about 4 or 5 years..

any advice on how to help my eggs survive would be greatly appreciated =+

thank-you
other pets are my colt (Freddo Frog), my staffy (Tank) and my boxer x,(Steph)

prepare a hatching tank properly cycled but pump should be equip with fine mesh
to avoid wigglers being sucked by the pump. in my case, i had tried to hatched
eggs in a bucket with power head, applied some methylene blue to control fungi,
and hatch accordingly.

Oscars don't get it right 1st time and can take a few attempts before success. if you can handle the stress of letting them get on with it then that's the easy way out. they will get it right after a few goes.

next is to remove the fry to a spare tank. as Paul says it needs to be set up and cycled ready for the fry. a small flow/current, met blue and the same PH/temp as the main tank is all that's needed. live brine shrimp for food.

what about doing both, half left with the pair in the main tank and try half with a hand raised tank.

thanks for the info, i set up a smaller tank with the water out of the big tank and added a heater and a air stone. i took the rock out whichj they had laid on and put it in there. now i feel bad because they are looking everywhere for their rock and eggs. arnt they stuck to the rock? if i try to remove them wont i crush them?i was just wondering whether i should put some back in on a smaller rock for them

And if they spawn, where will the babies go?
My 2 Oscars seem very friendly, and may turn out to be a couple, but i never thought of what to do with the fry if they would survive.
I guess my LFS will say no, if i say i got a 100 or so baby oscars i'd like to drop off...
and if my tank looks like this, i guess i'm in trouble.

they are not stuck to the eggs,... they are their first foods...
called "egg sac" and when it started to diminish, you can start
giving brine shrimp or dust of pellets.

make sure you have net or stocking mesh at the suction
of your filter, otherwise, they will be gone if sucked
by the pump.
