Ghost shrimp are good .
I breed guppys but they grow to slow, and are only like M&M's to an Oscar.
Convicts is an option i was thinking about, to feed to my Gar.
May work for o's too.
I resolve to feeding bugs and all kinds of worms as live food, for that is more like the natural diet of Oscars.
in the wild 60% of their food consists of bugs, worms and larvae that fall off the trees in the amazon.

Ive been thinkin about setting up a tank just for breeding feeders as well, is much involved? just jam some feeders in a tank and let them do their thing?

This will be down the track of course....

like i said before, if it is only a snack you want to give to your O, it's cool and any small fish can be bred for that purpose.
If you plan on feeding feeders only, you are gonna need an extra tank and fast growing, quickly reproducing fish.
I gave up the idea for now, for all feeders become pets in the end.
And allthough i keep predatory fish, i do not enjoy the suffering and stress part on the fish that is going to be eaten.
I think buying a kilo of smelt is a easier option.
And there's a difference in the "Swallow-whole" feeding tactics of an oscar, compared to the "shredding" that my gar does.

This is not a nice sight on living fish and if possible i don't resolve to feeding live fish.

This is something I have always wondered about. In the past, I have bought feeders, put them all into the tank and let the fish (oscars, pirahnas and jack dempseys) eat them as they were hungry. For my pirahnas, I would buy 100 feeders and they would usually be gone within 4 days. I would then let them go hungry for a couple days and repeat the process. I guess my question is, would it be better to keep them in a separate tank and feed them a few at a time? Feed pellets in the morning and a few feeders in the evening? As always, the great advice is always appreciated.
You ain't leading but 2 things... Jack and Shit... and Jack left town.

i keep a 30 gallon tank set up with a breeding pair of convict chiclids, then i put the fry in a separate 30 gallon tank and grow them a bit before feeding. these are just a treat, they are not the predatory fish's staple.

What's the point?

Ghost shrimp are empty calories, no reason to feed those.

Oh by the way...

DO NOT FEED FEEDER GOLDFISH

Goldfish contain Thiaminase I, an enzyme that metabolizes and breaks down Thiamine (Vitamin B1), causing nutritional deficiency! There are many different kinds of illness that can result of a nutritional deficiency!
