Hi all, my O's are laying as i type, one is laying the other is gaurding, but they both have the same looking appendige sticking out? i have made a video but am posting this first to see if anyone can help me sex them right now

We would have to see a photograph or video really. If both sexual organs look the same they more than likely the same sex as a female sexual organ is quite different from the male. the mail will to choose a small spike, whereas the female will produce an overall type tube.

I have got a couple of greens sevs and they lay eggs on a regular basis, however I am almost convinced I have two females. They will go through the same motion as a breeding pair, but their sexual organs look virtually the same and they both have them out when one is laying eggs. Remember that keeping fish in the tank is totally unnatural, they are forced to live together so if one fish does become sexually much your then you may find that the other female will become confused.

Yes, I agree with Cris, I am certain they are both female. it looks to me as if only one of them is actually laying eggs, the other ones egg tube is only partially sticking out whilst the other ones is completely extended. The exact same thing happens with my 2 green severeums

dang, i thought they did look quite simmilar, i just wasnt sure because of the way they are acting & such. although the eggs would go darker.. thats another thing...

Those pictures and video are great, It happens alot where two females with spawn together, iam sure you will know a 100% later, if the eggs are all mouldy and white later then id say both females, but from the pictures both tubes look female, you should notice the females are fatter and quite stubby and sort of tapered, where the males tube is longer and thinner and does not seem to taper quite so much..good news either way,atleast there getting alone
