Hi every1. i bought a dolphin/paroon shark from a LFS i havent used before last saterday and put it in my tank. the next day i noticed he looked not well. next day after that i got home from work and he was dead. (the 1st dead ive had in my new tank) anayway i wasnt happy i bought a fish for £35 that lasted les than 48 hours but these things happen i suppose. BUT ANYWAY, i was looking at my oscars tonight and im sure they have white spot. they are not rubbing against things or have any other symptoms like that but they have the spots. sorry for the big speel lol, BUT im really worried. my question is, is white spot hard to get rid of in oscars or can it be serious. ive started the treatment. ive had white sot with gold fish and got rid of it no probs, is it the same with oscars. PS, im really worried

what treatment did you start?
Usually raising the temperature and maybe adding one teaspoon of epsomsalt per 10 Gl of water will be enough to cure white spot.
it can be cured very well in oscars.
dot worry.
btw very sorry you lost the paroon.i love those.
First fish my wife ever wanted to buy.

with a medication treatment, i'm not sure if the other fish will not be affected.
Bumping the temp will not hurt the other fish.
Can you quarantine the O for treatment?

Hey Noddy, I'm noticing the same thing on my O's. White spots just on the O's. The other fish seem to be fine. The O's don't seem to be affected in any way. They swim around and act normally. Just have white spots on em. What medication should I use for this and will it affect the other fish?

its usually best to start another thread for advice. i can see why you posted here having the same problem.

using a treatment for white spot shouldn't affect other fish as long as you read the instructions and make sure the treatment you use is solely for white spot. some treatment are not meant for white spot alone and will treat many problems like met blue. this sort of treatment can affect other fish.

a good treatment for white spot is interpet white spot treatment. this is ok with loach and other sensitive fish. raise the temp to 28c and adding aquarium salts along with the interpet treatment is the fastest way to cure the problem. Before adding any treatment ARE YOU CERTAIN ITS WHITE SPOT. white spot is easy treatable and you shouldn't loose any fish from this problem if you treat it.

I'm pretty sure. I'll try and get a good pic this evening. I mean, there are white spots all over the O's. I'm almost certain but I'm asking here first to get a second opinion.

So, I got some super ich treatment last night and treated the tank. It said the bottle would treat up to 118 gallons so was just a lil shy of the 125 but I think it should get the job done. Says to retreat after 48 hours and 48 hours after that, do a 25% water change and add new carbon to the filter. So, thursday night I retreat, and saturday I will do my water change and add some carbon back into the filter. Stay tuned for updates. Funniest thing was that it turned the tank blue. Very funny.

I still find it odd that it's just the one fish that seems to have the spots. Can't really tell with my lutino cause he is always in hiding. All of the other fish seem to be unaffected. Very odd.
