Hello fellow OFLs,
Im in need of a little advise. And I have a few questions on my mind. We will get to them later.

Here are my water quality, tank and dietry specs. So we should be on the same page.

Tank:

Standard 4 x 1 ft.
Volume: 190 L.
AquaOne Canister Filter(CF1000).
Standard Heater.
Air pump + Air Stone(Long).

Water Quality:

These are checked daily and water changes are made 1 – 2 times a week, of approximately 20-40%
if a 40% change is done, I only change it once a week. This includes gravel vaccuming.

pH: appx. 6.8 – 7.0
Temp: 29*C(I under stand this maybe a bit high, my heater is set to 26*C, but I think my ambient room temp. is raising it.).
Nitrates: appx. 0.00ppm.
Nitrites: appx. 0.00ppm.
Chlorine: De-Chlorinated.
kH: ???(I don't use a testing kit for this I just follow its directions based on its container).
Salts and Minerals used according to instructions.

Tank Mates:

2 x Silver Dollars. Also if anyone is interested im looking to sell them.
2 x Os(Tiger and Red). About 7.5 inchs in length.
2 x Clown Loaches.
1 x Spotted Synodontis Catfish.

Diet:

I feed my fish about 2-3 times a day.

Mixture of;
Bloodworms(Frozen).
Large Crickets(Live Food).
TetraBits Granulated (Staple).
Platys(Comming Soon).

Alright, lets get to these questions.

M Tiger O has absolutely obliterated my Red O. He may not survive the week. But I have my fingers crossed that he will work up the strength to overcome the seriousness of his injuries. The pictures aren't that clear so ill give my general observation. Missing about 25% scales, basically looks like someone attempted to descale my O, over both sides. A fairly large chunk missing out of the side not really deep, about size of a small coin. Fins chewed slightly, eyes have no apparent damage. Very sluggish movement, or not even moving. Gills are working. Sitting on the bottom of the cage. In the pictures, it may look like he is in a small tank, but that's temporary. It is a box made from metal speaker cages, with a clear plastic bottom, silicon was used to hold it all together. I feel really slack putting him in such a small space but I don't see another option cause it only happened late today.

1) What can I do for him a part from Euthanasia?

2) Is it animal cruelty to not Euthanize him?

3) Is there any good products out to help out my O?

4) In case of his passing. Should I get another O?

5) Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks For all your help OFL, please think of my poor Red O. I will report in any changes to this thread.

Here are pics;
Unfortunately this is his good side, I didn't want to disturb him anymore.

I too have had this happen, and it did work itself out, and my Oscar did heal. But you do realize that if they are both males, this beating will NOT stop... Two males will not cohabitate.

Another problem could be that they are fighting over territory. The tank is not big enough for your stock.

How long has your tank been set up and running???? And how long have you had the fish?
The last question I have is how are you cleaning your filter?

The reason I ask this is because you are showing 0 Nitrates... On a cycled/Safe tank, there should be Nitrates present... Can you please test those again.

I will include a pic so you can see my Oscars HUGE injury!

Hey there.
Too bad this happened, but like Nicky stated it's a common thing when 2 males are kept in the same tank.
Territorial issues are common between male oscars.
So to answer your other question on restocking, there's no guarantee it will work out.
I know of oscars that kept killing any tankmates that were added into their territory.

On the other hand i put a tiger in my big red's territory when he was 1,5 years old and they became a couple.
But it will be risky.

But, not to be rude, but your tank is not big enough for the fish you keep in there.
We advice 220Liter per oscar and that is with no tankmates.
Lack of space may be the cause of the aggression...
Do you have another tank to keep the red in if he recovers?
Keep your water in pristine condition, and he may heal fine.
It seems like 2-3 times of feeding a day may be a but much, and i too am wondering about the nitrates of 0.
Please retest.

Wrong buddy if your tank is only 190 litres then it is not even large enough for One Oscar. One Oscar should have a minimum of 55 gallons or 250 litres.

Two Oscars should be in a 100 gallon tank minimum = 450 litres
