Hey,
The juvenile albino that I just recently purchased seems to have a few small cysts on its pectoral fins. They are all sitting directly on the bones of the fin. When I first got it home I realised that it had one on its right fin, I didn't realise this at the LFS. Now there is two on its right fin and one on its left.
Could this be the first stages of white spot?
Cheers.

Could you try and post a photo please?
It's difficult to say, there is something called Lymphocystis which in most cases doesn't cause any problem unless it infects other parts of the fish's body. However, many fish develop this viral infection and it doesn't cause any problems. I have a Gold Severum that has a couple of these on its pectoral, it's had them for a couple of years now and the fish hasn't shown any signs of ill health. Other than that, it's difficult to say without seeing a photograph that we can compare to maybe a picture in our health book.

Hey OFL,
I have been trying to get a photo of it all day, those fins just move too damn fast and it never wants to sit still, lol. I managed to get something, not the best but its the best I can do right now. I only have a camera phone. This is its left fin, the other side is the same but there are two, located on different bones.

it looks like the lil' cysts my red has from time to time, on exact the same spot.
looks like a tiny bubble.
i don't know what causes it, but in my case it's completely benign and goes as quickly as it comes, usually within a few weeks.
but if the boss has some other ideas, better listen to him!

If they just keep getting bigger and start looking rather unpleasant than it may be something to worry about. However, fish often develop these little things and they go away after a while. However, if it just stays the same and doesn't cause the fish any harm then I wouldn't worry about it. To find out exactly what it is you would have to take a sample and get it checked under a microscope, this is obviously something that is easier said than done.

LMAO, I tell you what, trying to get that photo made me want to reach in there and just hold it still. Could only imagine how hard it would be to get a sample of it.

White spot is pin prick sized white spots, it doesnt look like white spot to me
Some fish get those little white lumps on their fins, its perfectly normal and nothing to worry. Keep an eye on them to make sure they dont get bigger. You will find over time that they may move further down the fin away from the fin, (kinda like a mark on your nail slowly grows out)

Cheers mate, thanks for your input.
Looking at them today it seems as though they may have gotten a little smaller.
