hi every one this afternoon i came home to find my oscar badly beaten up, his fins are all torn and he doesnt look in a good shape. im am pretty sure this was caused by my jag as he is the only other fish capible of doing this, they are in a 75g and i have a 10 gallon spare. should i move the oscar or the jag to the 10g

Shane, sorry to hear about your Oscar. How big is your tank???

Personally I wouldn't move either to a 10 gallon tank... That is NOT enough space...

If your main tank is big enough I would find a divider until you can permanently remove one or the other to suitable living conditions...

a separator like this is better than a 10 gal tank.... first, you can maintain
water quality,; 2nd is more swimming space....

you can cut the plastic mesh wider than the tank, bend both side to
form a c-type curve, put sucker on 4 corners and install inside the
tank.... you easily remove if no more hostilities

A divider is the way to go

What other fish do you have in the tank. Jags can be aggressive and can do lots of damage to oscars. A 75g isnt big enough for an oscar and a jag, without any other fish

It looks like your are going to have to rehome your Jag, or to get a tank just for the jag. 10g isnt big enough for an oscar or a jag

thanks everyone last night i had no other choice but to put the oscar in the 10g but this morning i managed to make a divider in the 75g.

i have phoned the lfs and they said i can return one of them tommorow.
the only probem is i dont know who to return i like them both the same, do you have any help as to which one i should return and which one you think would be better to keep

If you cant get another tank, the decision on which one to rehome depends on what other fish you have and which one you prefer- the oscar or the jag. If you have other fish there is a chance the jag will beat them up too. If you have no other fish then its whatever fish you prefer to keep
