Hey guys my one red Oscar housed alone in a 250liter tank has picked up White Spot and as part of the treatment I want to raise the water temperature to 30 to speed up the life cycle of the parasite so I can treat it more effectively. Would the little guy be able to cope with that range of temperature?

He will be fine as long as you add an air pump to the tank. Higher temps deplete Oxygen in the water.. So add some extra oxygen and he will be fine...

How did he get ick if he is alone???
It's NOT smart to piss off the girl with the BAN button!

Long story short I bought him about 2 week ago and I think he bought it in with him from the LFS and it just got worse due to the stress of the new tank. So I treated him with some meds called "Waterlife" and all seemed fine till the ich came back worse I think it built up a tolerance to the meds. So now I am switching meds and raising the temperature to see if it will work.

It is going to be a bit hard for me to get a detailed enough picture of him as he hardly sits still enough, and I dont think my camera will show off the white spot but let me try.

I agree. extra oxygen and water movement will help while raising temp.

Yes raise the temperature, if you are adding some ick medicine decrease the temp of the water, add some extra oxygen follow the instructions of the medicine as u will not over dose it. do it for a week or 15 days as the disease completes it life cycle. But in my opinion do not use medicine just raise the temp and your fish will be okay.

Thanks I have successfully raised the temperature up-to 32 degrees and the little fellow seems none the worse for wear a bit more hyperactive but still doing fine. So I am going to add some natural ick treatment: www.bio-elite.com/anti_ich.htm and wait it out for a week and see what happens.
