as i was cleaning my tank today i noticed a round white spot about 1/4" in diameter on the chin of my oscar porthos.
he is behaving normaly (for him)just cruising around the tank not taking notice of anyone. his eating habits are the same as always and he doesnt appear to be off his game at all.

my readings are ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 20-30
these were taken just before the water change

any help would be appreciated


btw porthos is about 11" in lengh and has been in this tank for about 6 weeks now

Hopefully just a blemish, or may be a slight injury in the Oscar has picked up. I don't think you need to take any drastic action at the moment, you'll probably find it disappears in a few days, just keep an eye on it. Take another photo in three days and we can compare it to the one you put on here today

Looks like a small injury to me but it hard to tell from the pic. If it is a injury its in an unusual place, probably caught it on something

Just to be sure, is the edge even or uneven, is there an cotton wool like stuff on it?

there doesnt appear to be anything cottony on or around the the mark and the edges do not appear ragged. it doesnt protrude just seems like a white spot under his chin just behind where the gills come down
