TOPIC: zebra danios!

zebra danios! 4 years, 2 months ago #11976

I currently have a 20 gal. tank with 2 female mollies, 1 dragon goby, 1 pleco, and 8 small zebra danios. I put the required amount of salt in but i dont know how this will affect my danios or my pleco(i'm pretty sure the pleco can handle it though). Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what you mean by required amount of salt, salt isn't really necessary On a regular basis although some people like to use it. Salt can be used to treat some diseases and out the other injuries but other than that, I can't see any point in using it on a regular spaces. I've never ever use salt and I've never had any problems.

If you are unsure about using medication or substances in your tank, I would advise you to ask these type of questions before putting them in. You've got to be careful with some scaleless fish, they don't do very well with salt.

my dragon goby and the molly need the same amount of salt in my aquarium because it is brackish and the molly, idn but it needs salt. My zebra danios arent brackish and i need to know if they may be harmed by this

salt is not necessary for Mollies but they can survive with salt in the water; but i don't think danios require salt! careful with the amount of salt u put.It may harm danios.

one of my 8 danios has died(it jumped out of the tank)and im not sure about the other ones. some are a little lighter in colour than when i bought them. Though i dont know if this is from the salt or not getting enough food (i do feed them lots though)

Just a guess but how about having half the salt that you have(bit of a compromise) . However the best thing to do is not to keep fish that require salt with those that dont
