I have a mating pair and one jumped out of the tank today. Very upsetting when I got home and found it. I am concerned about the male and how he will go. They have been together since they where babies - they are about 2.5 years old. Will the male be alright and can I get another oscar to put in with him???

unfortunately, you haven't really given us a lot of information to go on. for instance, how long was the Oscar out of the tank for? how far did it fall to the ground? are there any signs of injury? you should also look at why your Oscar was able to jump out of the tank. Oscars do occasionally jump, I don't believe they are tried to jump out of their tank, probably investigating things they can see above the water, or under the tank lid. an Oscar tank should always have a secure lid , Oscar is a quite powerful fish say have to bear that in mind.

We've all heard of the expression "2's company, 3;'s a crowd" I believe this is no exception with the Oscars. If you had three Oscars and two of them decided to pair off and breed, it could result in quite serious aggression problems because a third Oscar could be looked upon as a threat. You also have to look at how big your tank is. Two Oscars require no less than 100 gallons, three Oscars would need at least 180 gallons UK to be comfortable
I may not always be right, but I am always the boss
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved

Sorry for your loss (if it died). This is why you always have a lid on your tank

Adding a new oscar can be fraught with problems, you oscar may not like the oscar and me beat it up. Look for some previous posts for advise about adding a new oscar

i feel bad for your loss.

if you do decide to try and get another oscar be sure to keep an eye on things so no harm comes to the new one.

and remember if an oscar can put it into its mouth it will probably try to eat it sooner or later.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!
