My tiger has had ick now for about 5 days. I increaed my water tempature to 80 and treated ick with quick cure ick medicine now for those 5 days. My tiger seems to act fine he is always active and eats like regular but has a tremendous amout of ick spots on him. I check my water quality daily and it is at normal conditions. What should i do to help my oscar? Also ive herd that ick medication can harm live plants. Should I do anything to my plants? Please help i dont want to loose my gorgous tiger oscar.

what many people don't realise is by the time the cysts are visible on the fish's skin, many medications are actually futile. Try increasing the temperature of your water to around 30°C. Also, please read this article, it will tell you everything you need to know about treating white spot, it's a very long article but please take your time reading it, it is probably one of the best articles on the Internet, not written by me I might add.

EDIT: always check the medication before putting it in your tank, like you have already suggested, some medications can harm plants, more importantly, they can have an effect on your biological filter. This is why quarantining fish is always advisable when possible.

your fish will be fine at 30c. Its not recommended long term but for a week or so its ok. You can get skin problems after white spot because the spots burst and that leaves breaks in the skin. Most ICH medicines treat this too. You can add anything that treats fungus or skin sores. Dont forget to remove the ICh medicine with carbon in your filter before adding any other meds

Hi, just thought i should add when you make any water change make sure you heat the new water to that of your tank or the problem will continue or return, are you adding tonic salt as this could also help boost your treatment and limit stress.
