Troober created the topic: Help!! my Oscar is swimming sideways!!!

Hey it's me again, sorry to bother you but my Oscar has been swimming sideways mostly at night (because that's the time I arrive home) But today I stayed home and I've been watching i'ts behavior, my oscar swims very very fast and hits all the sides of the tank and then lies up in the surface for a while... Is that normal? :S

Um NO, that`s not normal... :(
Do you do regular water changes?
Try turning electrical things off in there JUST FOR A SHORT TIME and see if it stops. Maybe there`s an electric current leaking from a heater or something...

The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.

I concur with my learned colleague Roxy the trucky dog.
Useful to post the following..
  • Water Change schedule
  • Tank Size
  • Filter
  • pH
  • Ammonia
  • Nitrite
  • Nitrate
  • Tank Mates
  • Age of Oscar and anything unusual leading up to this..
Then someone will get back to you......
Good Luck..Shazzzzzzzzz

yea this is not a good sign and like already mentioned normally a sign of electric getting into your tank water not good as it can fry your fish or it may be down to poor water ESP high ammonia. High ammonia can leave your fish with permanent brain damage so good to pick up on it early.

I'm living my life, but not necessarily in the right order :)

It could possibly be a bladder injury Thats causing the fish to struggle to swim straight
