Hello everyone, I finally got my test kits. These are my tank readings as of right this moment.

Nitrite= 0.1
Ammonia= 5.0 slowly going up....Added ammochips...still not going down...?
PH= Between 7.0-7.5

Those are the only kits I have at the moment. My Oscar seems to be doing well..He is on a diet of frozen blood worms and brine shrimp...3 times a day...

I did a complete water and gravel to sand change this past Saturday...He took to the new set up very well...Not stressed at all...No banging into the tank sides...thank God!...I just want to be sure to keep the water where it is supposed to be...Could you guys please advise me as to what to do to keep Ammo down?

if your fish is doing fine, consider getting another
testing kit. with ammonia reading that high, your fish
should be in trouble, thus i suspect you got wrong readings.

regular water change can regulate your water parameters.

make sure ur doing it right as well, ammonia of 5.0 will lead to a quick death. hows the water look? is it foggy??

Retest ASAP for ammonia & nitrites. If your ammonia is correct at 5.0 then you must do a 50%-60% water change right away followed up by every other day a change of 25%-30% until readings reach 0%. if you cant or are not sure about if the retest is correct do the water change for safety. ammonia will result in blindness,breathing problems and death very quickly at these levels if left. I would stop feeding too, or give very little until you are back on track with your water condition.

can you remind us on your tank size,fish & size, & filter. any maintenance you carry out would help too.
water changes,
how often & how much.
how you clean your filter.
how long you have been setup.
Be the change that you want to see in the world.
