TOPIC: My oscar is losing some scales!?

My oscar is losing some scales!? 3 years, 5 months ago #19195

Is it bad for the oscar to lose scales? My son and I are worried about our aquatic pal. HAs any one ever encountered this and should I be worried? Please help me out. We love our oscar and would hate for anything to happen to him.

One has to you determine whether your Oscar is losing the scales through disease/water quality problems, other fish nipping at him, or is it rubbing itself against something in the tank.

a picture would help us help you to evaluate
your situation. oscar could normally lose scales.
but too much loses should be given proper attention.

water parameters is the most basic reference for ones
action and interpretation. any changes in your oscar's
mode, eating habit, and daily routine also helps a lot.
so please post your water parameters, tank set up & filterin
system.

It's not alot, His water is clean. He lives alone so thats not the problem. Is it normal for them to lose a few scales occassionaly? I'm new to oscars so mabey I'm geting paranoid.

as said earlier, few loses is normal but too much
loses needs immediate attention. water parameters
should be check, not necessarily just clean, it should
be in data.... ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, pH, etc..
