I haven't faced HITH -hope I never will- but so far I see you are going in the right direction.
If you could post some pics -please compress them to under 500K and use photobucket to load them by copying the link in your post- so you get better advice. The sooner HITH is addressed, the better the outcome.
A 55gal with adequate filtration and well maintained tank is perfect, as far as I know, to heal your Oscar. Glad you're changing food habits since poor nutrition seems linked to HITH.

pristine water and healthy diet are 2 of the most important things needed for curing hith. try to keep your nitrates below 20 ppm and feed a healthy diet and yur oscar should improve but remember that it can take quite a while to completely cure the disease so be patient and keep the water in pristine condition.

Maybe it is my eyesight but I can't see anything on the head region. The only suspect area which could be a cause for concern is around the Gill plate area. I have marked it off on your photo. However, it may just be a blemish on an Oscar. If you can tell us what you can see and where it is, it will give us a better idea what to look for

i fully agree with OFL. theres nothing wrong with
your oscar. pinholes in the nostril are normal.
your oscar has a nice color pattern tho.
