Hello
I have a Tiger oscar that was being picked on so I had to move it to an isolation tank.
The water quality of the tank its in now and the one it was moved to both are well within acceptable levels.
Its sharing the tank with a clown loach and a bushynose placo
Its been in there for about a month.
In this time it hasn't grown either at all or enough to be noticed and it is always hiding. it looks like it is still eating as food that is dropped into the tank is gone a couple minutes later but I haven't seen it eat in at least a week
any ideas whats wrong or how to fix it would be great

Thanks

welcome to the site

1- you say your water is "within acceptable levels" what excatly are those levels?

2- what size is the tank he is in now with the pleco and clown loach

3- is he being bullied by one of the tankmates?

4- are you sure he is eating? you should feed him and wait and watch to make sure he is eating.

when you give us a little more info on your setup we will be better able to help
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

my goal is simple a complete understanding of the universe, why it is as it is and why it exists at all

we can only help you by given data as necro had ask.
for the mean time, how strong is the current in you
tank.... i mean the agitation. granting you have good
water condition.... hiding can be an effect of new tank
syndrome wherein fish tries to acclimatise themself in
new environment. as long as he/she is still eating, you
should not worry that much.

both the nitrites and amonia are below closer to 0 but my test kit can't tell much better then that
the tank is 40 gallons but the fish is only 2" and when healed/grown a little it will be able to go back to the 125 gallon
there is a pretty good surface current from the bio wheel
it is eating but not a lot and I don't think enough
as far as I can tell he isn't being bullied by the other two fish

thanks for the help
