If you can get a photo that would be helpful because many Oscars develop a lump on their bottom lip. Obviously without a photo I can't say whether this is the case or not. As for the problem with aggression, oscars do have a go at each other occasionally. If the aggression is severe and injuries are being caused on a regular basis than splitting them up is sometimes the only option. But we won't go down that route just yet.

i went to my lfs after sending that message because i needed to buy more aqua safe and i mention to the bloke what i had seen, his words were ''it wouldnt of been the oscars, it would of been the parrots, he asked if the oscars were still together in the tank or was they keeping distance, i told him no they look happy swimming together and he said its definitely the parrots. he told me they will keep doing this now until the parrots become to big for them, so i think i might have to get rid of my parrots
i'll try and get a pic up if i can.
should be within 5 mins if i can get 1.

i have kept parrots and O,s together with no probs at all ,i beleive marcus keeps them together also with no probs so i wouldnt take action on the parrots yet........a pair of o,s should see off parrots anyway ...but i have heared A LOT OF INSTANCES whare PLECS AND CATFISH take chunks out of O,s!!!!!!!!!ESPECIALY IF THEY ARE BIGGER THAN THE oscars!!!!!!!!!!!have you got a plec with them ????????????my moneys on the plec !!!!!!! also parrots cant bite !!!!as the breed deformation has prevented them from moving their bottom jaw !!and if you look closely they cant close their mouthes completely ....i have to feed mine small pellets as they cant open their mouths enough to eat a big one !!! my moneys on the plec !!!!IF YOU HAVE ONE!!!!!!!! :)BUT they do get white lumps on the bottom jaw a lot sometimes from lip locking with the other o ..or even hitting the top glass sliders hard when feeding!!!!!!!or from buldozing substrate as ofl said dont worry too much yet

oscar normally develops a lump under their chin
due to constant moving of substrate, moving driftwood,
or moving anything inside the tank. if he/she is still
active and eating well, no need to worry.

it is common for a lump to develop on an oscars chin but it doesnt happen to all oscars. i have 5 oscars presently and only one has the lump on his/her chin. i also agree with bgh in that parrots even though they may try to be aggressive cant close there mouth so they cannot bite anything. their thing is to bump and ram not bite. and a stated if you do have a pleco they can on occasion be nasty towards other fish.

I do have a pleco, but he's only small, about 4-5 inches, same sort of size as the oscars, but for the whole time i have had him, he never ever bothers my fish, he just does his own thing and the fish dont bother him either.
so i really doubt it would of been the plec,
it might just be what you guys said about him ramming himself into something or scrumming through the gravel.
he is still eating and swimming around looking happy so everything should be ok, i'll just keep a close eye on him/her.
