Hi my name is Jazmin. I didnt introduce myself because I am in desperate need of help. So THANK YOU THANK YOU for opening this up to read.

My brother has a fish tank about 60 gallon with 3 oscars and I have helped him fix it and what not he has wanted oscars for so long. Well his albino all of a sudden started acting werid and would not eat then a day later her skin was coming off and her fins were barely even there!!
They have been healthy he has had them for over 2 months and they have grown twice thier size. Since the albino [LuLu] was sick we went to petsmart and petco and were told to put salt in the tank I was weary but I figured it was worth a try if it made LuLu better. NO IT DIDNT one has already died they you can see the salt all over thier bodies and fins they look miserable. They are starting to act crazy and swim so fast and hit themselves everywhere and they are always on thier sides barely breathing it seems. This is our first real fish tank meaning not goldfish or bettas I feel responsible because we should have read up and looked everything up before making any adjustments.

I'm hoping someone can help me. I dont want them to die.

Have you took water readings?
we'll need to see your water reading before we can help you.
but like i said in your other thread, a 60gallon tank is way to small for 3 oscars.

please test your water as glen has pointed out. post the results. you need a full test kit if you dont have one please take a water sample to a fish dealer and have it tested for you. if you intend to keep fish i recommend you purchase one.

1 You say you added salt, was this aquarium salt thats meant for fish tanks or table salt??.
2 are you doing water changes? how often and are you treating the water to remove chlorine
3 have you cleaned your filter recently? if so how.

As a precaution I would do a large water change of 30% of the tank water, after you test it. this is to ensure your water is in a reasonable condition for your fish. most common problems are water related. make sure the new water is treated to remove chlorine.

I moved this topic to "Emergency please help" as it will get better response there.

as stated by glen water readings are a must to help you with your problems. when you get them if you can post the ammonia nitrite nitrate ph and temp it will help a great deal.

now to your tank size. 60 gallons is large enough for one oscar and thats about it. so you can see that you are quite overstocked withthe three oscars you have. if you choose to keep all three you will need a much larger tank something in the 150 gallon range. now come the problem of keeping three oscars together. if you manage to get a mating pair of the third one will be in for quite a rough time. the pair will join together and make the last one's life fairly miserable. if you rehome one of your oscars you can get away with a tank in the 120 gallon range depending on what tankmates you chose to go with them. the more tankmates the larger the tank you will need. if you decide to get another oscar you will have to get a larger tank(some thing in the 180-200 gallon range) so imho the first thing you should do is start looking for larger tanks asap. remember it can take up to 6 weeks to properly cycle an aquarium so time is one thing you really dont have.

whatever you decide to do good luck to you and keep us posted on oscar situation.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

They have been healthy he has had them for over 2 months and they have grown twice thier size. salt is meant to enhance oxygen dissolve in water and comfort the fishes, but water should be in good condition before applying it, otherwise, it will be useless.

They are starting to act crazy and swim so fast and hit themselves everywhere and they are always on thier sides barely breathing it seems.

darting and hitting everything is already a sign of trouble. your fishes are trying to shake off something bothering them. water change is the first defense but the system should be working. the filtering system must be working properly so that water change will make them feel better.

This is our first real fish tank meaning not goldfish or bettas I feel responsible because we should have read up and looked everything up before making any adjustments.

common mistake but knowing and accepting you made mistake solve 50% of the problem. we will help you solve the remaining 50%. can you post the following:
water parameter: ammonia? nitrite? nitrate? pH? temperature?
tank mates? filter pump capacity?
