is this affliction with only one eye or both? and can you post your wter readings? also how long did it take this to happen?

if you can get back to us with these answers it might help in a diagnosis however a pic is by far the best way to help you.
Warning..I will offend you at some point!!!

It really is very important that you either test your water on a regular basis by going to a fish store, or get yourself some test kits. It doesn't matter what forum you go on, if you ask for help regarding problems in your tank, we are going to ask for your water readings. Without knowing this information, it is virtually impossible to give you accurate advice. I apologise if it sounds like I'm lecturing you, if it is so important that you have some idea of what your water conditions are. You don't need to test it every day, if your fish don't show signs of ill health, you only need to do it every now and then.

Now regarding your Oscars condition. Oscars have got excellent eyesight so even with one eye, you will know whether your Oscar can see food. Animals can cope perfectly okay but just one eye, so as long as the other eye is okay, it shouldn't have a problem feeding. If the eye looks like it's damaged, I suspect there isn't much you can do about it. What we've got to try and determine is whether this has happened due to poor water conditions, or maybe an injury. If it was down to poor water conditions, I think both sides would probably be affected. Poor water conditions normally cause the eyes to go cloudy.

If you can get your water tested somewhere, please do tell us what the results are.

I think you'll have a difficult job getting a good photo, taking photographs of fish is difficult at the best of times. I think it's probably damaged beyond repair by what you have described. I could be wrong, but it does rather sounds like it's damaged beyond repair.

Like I said in my previous post, Oscars use their eyesight to locate their food. You'll know pretty much straight away if the Oscar is seeing okay if you drop some floating pellets in

Should be fine with one eye if the other is permanently damaged. I have another Cichlid in my oscar tank that got an eye infection of some sort and one of the pupils turned white. It's a little less active than it used to be but overall fine. I've actually got it trained to eat at one end of the tank while I occupy the oscars at the other so it has time to spot the food and get it. Now and then it "misfires" when striking for food but usually has no trouble eating.

a picture will help us evaluate your concern.
as long as it is taking food, there is a big
chance of survival. while having no test kit yet,
and not employing any method to lower down the toxins
in your water, a regular water change is a must to
keep it under control.
pristine water is the first defense in all fish ailments.
