hey

my oscar has ick. it sucks cos hes still only a baby.

i think he got it when i added new water, it wasnt perfect temp. and could have shocked him.

now hes on the gruond. he laying on his side and is gasping for air. do i need to be serisouly concerned?

water paremeters

nitrites 0
ammo 0
nitrates <40

hes been in a bit of stress lately, as i forgot to turn the heater back on for 1 whole day. so it was colder than usual. increased to 28 DEgrees

i have added some salt, but im really thinkig i should go out and buy some ick treatment

If he's laying on his side, there is need for concern.

Do a water change, try and lower those nitrates a bit. Then, I would suggest you slowly turn the temp up a couple degrees, perhaps to 30 C (86 F).

Then, get some meds, too (you'll wanna be on the safe side). Buy something with methylene blue, most other ick meds are slow-working or just don't work at all.

Good luck,
Art

Not sure about melafix, check the "ingredients" for methylene blue. I wouldn't think so though, because melafix is generally used for healing injured fish, not healing sick ones. Not sure on that one though.

hi mate, sad to know you've got ICK. for some input, do water change,
raised the temp between 27 to 30 deg, add ick medicine, and in not
time, ick will be gone. i am not sure about others belief but mythalene
blue works wonders in some of my client's gold fish.

hope this help

sorry. oscar didnt make it. im not too sure why he was so weak.

i thought that raising temp and adding salt would cure it as it did for my other fish. but it seems i needed meds.

ah well.
