Hello everyone,

This is what I got, and I don't know what else to do.

125 gal tank 6x2x2
2 - Emperor 400 pro series filtes
2 - 6in Oscars
1 - 4in Electric Blue Jack Dempsey
1 - 4in Black Banded Leporinus
1 - 4in Pelco

Ammonia - 0.5
Nitrate - 0.5
PH - 6.0

I just upgraded from a 75g tank. Used almost all the old water, and washed the new filters out in old water. I had alittle cloudy water but nothing to write home to mom about. I tried water clarifiers with no luck. Then I added Diamond blend carbon into the refillable media container, and that made it worst. I did a 10% water change today and went to my local aquatics store to get my water tested with the above results. They advised "Clarity" water clarifier, as soon as I poured that solution in, it turn milky white. Now I can barely see my fish unless they come to the front of the tank. They seem to be OK, not gasping for air or acting strangely. I just ordered a (Ehiem Pro 3e 2080 canister filer) maybe this will help, but I'm worried how long my fish can last under these conditions. I just don't know what else to do. any advise will help, thus far none has.

Signed

your tank is 175 US gal or 150 IMP gal size.... a good size

Ammonia - 0.5
Nitrate - 0.5
PH - 6.0
something you should watch out. keep water change regularly until ammonia and nitrate become zero.

how long did it take you to clean the filter system? common mistake, you should have run it first with the new tank using the cycled water until your new tank had stable water condition.

I have a 125 US gal and I washed the new filters for about 10min in the old water but didn't run it in the new tank first. When the new 125g tank arrived I had the Oscars in tubs, because they took the old 75g away. So I had to transferr the oscars in the new tank. I should have ran it in the new tank until water was stable, newbie mistake. But now I have 125g of milk what can I do now to clear it up. keep doing water changes? and how much to change? will my fish be OK? and when my new filter arrives do run it in some other tank that I don't have or can I just hook it up to the new tank?

okey, i understand.
as i have said, i am not used to those additives, but i believe
they will not harm your fishes. just let the system run and hope
it will clear in no time.

yes, you can run the new filter in parallel with the existing.
there are times that the old media in the existing are imported
and used with the new one to expedite good bacteria colonization.

common sign of troubled fish:
not eating;
breathing heavily;
not moving;
splashing;

if they act normal like before, wouldn't worry much,
they will be fine.

Please check... i mixed up... i believe it should be nitrite.
nitrate level at 20 is acceptable, but lower the better.

okey then thanks.
keep an eye on ammonia and nitrite. they must be zero.
pH and nitrate are fine without erratic fluctuation.
with regular water change, you can bring them down to
zero together with nitrate in lower bracket.

you did not give data on sign of troubles. it means you
are doing well.

OK,

They show no signs of stress, they have always been water change chumps, really scary, and ever since the tank change they have been really shy. I will post a pic later today, but the water is so milky I'm afraid to do anything to it. I will do another 10% water change today, and hopefully they will be ok until my new filter arrives.

you have a bacterial bloom in your tank causing your milk !!!!!!! also you seem to be cycling again....the bacterial bloom will clear in a week or 2 leave the lights off for this period and keep them parameters at zero by carying out waterchanges ,daily if needed......in a fortnight you will see a huge difference...dont stress my friend..but watch them parameters
