hi guys,
i have a problem with one of my oscars..
i just did a 30% water change and for some strange reason olly!! one of my oscars did not like it at all!! he is only 6 months old so still a baby!! after 24h he was sitting on the bottem of the tank not moving at all he is the shy one and gets picked on the most alot by our bigger oscar ( orscar ) i did but some more hiding places to help him but it didnt.. now he started to lose colour.. the other oscars are fine.. i have done water changes b4 and this has not happened..
so today we took him out and put him our other tank set up and he seams to have gotten worst he now looks like he has a fungie on him and his eyes are very dark all over he is pale and dose not move lies on his side on the bottem of the tank and not eathing at all.. he is VERY close to death.. i just need some advise to see if i can help him.. now b4 u ask yes the water has been checked and is fine.. so is there any thing i can do or is it too late!!

you mean the eyes are blurred? i suggest you increase the temp at 80 deg F, add some pure salt at 1 tablespoon/25 gal water, and feed sparingly.

what is the temp of the new tank?

fine is not enough. how about what is the water parameters before the water change?

oscar that had been exposed to toxic (bad water condition) sometimes
react to sudden change of environment. blurred eyes is usually a result
of prolong exposure to toxic waste in water like ammonia and nitrite.
sudden change in temperature and pH, sometime stressed the fishes too.
the compromised health could not be restored immediately after water change.
i believe your fishes had suffered enough, and it is only now the problem
manifest in them.

you may say "how come the other are not"?. it is because they are healthier
and had more resistance.

wait for others to chime in.

Paul is correct, we need to know the exact readings of your water. Too many people said their water is fine when actually it's not quite as good as they thought it was. the fact that you got this problem normally points to a water quality problem, fish shouldn't become diseased and ill in good quality water.

What I would also suggest is doing a pH test before the war to change, and then directly after. Large fluctuations in pH can also cause problems, especially to the skin. A photograph of your fish will also help us. Does this fungus look likee it is raised, a little bit like cotton wool at all?

Is your fish breathing heavily now? This can often be a sign of stress and/or illness. It is quite difficult to help until we know the exact readings of your water.

hey guys so sorry it has taken so long to reply been bust fixing the tank..
ok so...
when olly passed away ( R.I.P ) i moved the other fish to our other tank..
totaly emptyed the other tank cleaned it all out & started back from scratch.. cleaned everything!! went and got a new bigger filter its a HBL-800 Hang On Filter ( 600lph ) new air system.. ( the fish tank itself is 4ft * 3ft) filled the tank up and let it cycle for one day then tested the ph levels and Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia,
it has been cycling now for the last 3 days and only a few hours ago i put the 2 oscars & silver shank back in..
now the ph levles - 6.5
Nitrates - 6ppm
Nitrite - 0ppm
Ammonia - 0ppm
NOW!! befor i get toled off ect... i am still a learner with these oscar fish and each and every person that can help wpuld be great.. its is VERY sad that i lost olly.. but i can only learn from what i have done wrong and make my other 2 oscar fish happy & healthy and lookinga t them right now they both seam to be loving the new clean tank!! its amazing how a little help can go a long way so thank you guys!!
