Oscar has a big cut on his head and I wanted to know if it's safe or what I should do?

Keep nitrates below 20ppm through water changes. If you do not have a liquid test for nitrates, then you will need to purchase.

The tell tale sign of an Oscar that jumps and bangs its noggin on tank frame/lids. Not to worry, do a couple of daily large water changes and it will rapidly heal over. Until the next one, lol!

From time to time my Oscar bangs itself around, and as everyone has stated, if your nitrates are below 20ppm and your doing regular changes, they heal amazingly fast. They can litterally have a scratch one day and gone the next, much faster than us wee humans can heal.
