Last week before we left for the weekend we fed everybody good so they wouldn't be so hungry and of course greedy Casino got the most of it. When we got back his stomach was swollen from being such a piglet so I fed him peas, I've only give him peas and flakes all week and his tummy has gone down about half but won't go further. He's getting the fungus again, probably from stress and it looks like his sides are beginning to split. What else can I do?

Have you tested your water conditions. if so we will need the results please for ammonia,nitrates,nitrites,PH. this info could help use to help you far better than without it.

When you say the sides are slit do you mean the belly is very fat and the scales are lifting?? Can you post a pic. I suspect a condition called "dropsy" if it is this its very infectious to other fish. the fungus is most likely due to your water conditions too. I don't have a pic to post of a fish with "dropsy" and I couldn't find one in the fish disease. There is also the possibility of constipation and other internal infections so a clear pic would be a great help.

I just tested the water, it's very good, I have done 2 50% this past week. I'm thinking I just overfed him. I'll see if I can get a pic.

Is he having any difficult swimming???

No but he likes to lay on the bottom now on top of the air bar. He's still eating all I'll give him and will swim for a while but always goes back. He's dug a hole to lay in in the corner.

He's breathing ok, just being very lazy

Dropsy is basically a build up of fluids in the visceral cavity (which contains the stomach, intestines, gall bladder, and kidney).

You can relate it to getting a cold. When your sick, your various lymph glands around the body retain excess amounts of fluid, for instance just under your neck. But having this excess fluid isn't the problem, your cold is.

Same thing in fish. It's just your fish trying to fight off another disease... don't worry about the dropsy, worry about whatever else is causing your oscar to act like this.

I suspect the real problem is the fungus, therefore.

Hey Sins, soory to hear cosino had another problem.
kindly check if the place where cosino used to digged had any
sharp object where he could had scraped his body. those white
spots looks like injury to me.

For not eating, my o did not eat for two weeks after
my son dump a load of guppies wherein my LadyGrayBelly
died. today, he is eating very well again.

There's only smooth rock in his tank and flowerpot that has no rough edges, he is eating, he'll still eat too much if I'd let him so I'm hoping with time he'll get back to normal. I'm putting melafix in just to be on the safe side.

He's feeling better today, more like his old self, pushing everybody out of the way to get to the food first His tummy is almost back to normal and the fungus is fading fast. Thanks for the help guys !!

the damage isn't too bad, I have seen a lot worst when one of mine went for a walk out the tank ))) It don't look like dropsy maybe as you thought just too much food and a little off colour.
