i just got a 2" oscar i was lookin at him and noticed a gray spot just above his gills posibly about were our temples would be...would that be the starting of HITH?i'll take some pictures tommrow and post give me some help please anyideas what it could be until i get pics up???!!!!!!!!!

welcome to the site....

yes, picture will help us give you correct evaluation.
the following info can also help us more:
tank size, tank mate, filtering capacity and type
water reading parameters, and how long the tank had
been set up.

Please post a pic, all water peramitors, tanksize, and filter set up. Did you cycle your tank?

It could be a fungus, if it is raising the temp to 80 and using Melifix will cure him in no time. I hope it's something that simple. Good luck to you and welcome to the site

a pleco and two emerald corydoras are the tanks mates and he's a tiger oscar he's in a 55gal i have two 30 gal filters on the tanks....and yes i cycled my tank for the last month or so..sorry it will be a bit longer in pics i can't seem to find my camera i'm still lookin thanks

Hi ColtonB, and welcome to the site. Others will post soon regarding your filtration and the lack of. It might be helpful to read other comments on this site regarding filters,water parameters, tank mates, and size requirements for large Oscars. My first recomendation would be to change 30% of your water twice a week. Then study the section on filters. Good luck and welcome.

This is what we use, you'll see it said over and over that with filters you get what you pay for and your filter is your most important piece of equipment. Since he's only 2 inches right now you have some time to upgrade. Plecos can suck on sleeping fish, I'm not sure about Corys...someone else here will know. The addiction will make it easy to upgrade and expand...and expand....and expand

well it's turned out to be the starting of ick but i got it takin care of before it caused to much harm. thanks for you help you guys are awsome
