My oscar Frank Lucas won't eat feeders anymore. He's about a year old now and up until recently he's slain everything in sight. Is there a reason he's not as carnivorous as he once was? Also he's seemed to stop growing... or maybe I just don't notice anymore. He's about 8 to 9 inches long and not as full as he should be. I had him in a smaller tank for a while could that have stunned his growth?

It may have... What size tank is he in now? what size was the smaller tank you had him in? and what are your water parameters?

This is probably a good time to introduce another food. Unless Steelers are raised by yourself, I'm not keen on these as a staple food. Forget about readers for the time being, get yourself some good-quality pellets, maybe some frozen bloodworm, shrimps or krill, Oscar's love them.

The pellets I would recommend are Hikari and Tetra Doramin, my Oscars really like these

As for his size to be honest up until about 3 months ago he was in a 20 gallon tank for all of his life. I had a 55 at home but my apt at school wouldn't let me have anything higher then a 10.... I actually pressed my luck with the 20 but told the RA to go... well I'm sure I can't say that here but lets just say I made him an offer he couldn't refuse haha...

To clarify Frank Lucas is eating healthy, Hikari Medium Pellets about 20 at a time 2 or 3 times a day, and is active I'm just wondering why he's not eating feeders.

well if your oscar is eating healthily but just not feeders, I wouldn't worry about it at all. in my opinion, your Oscar will be healthier in the long run if you don't feed them live fish

I agree with OFL... I rarely feed my oscars live food unless its a treat like night crawlers from my garden
