One of our oscars came down with popeye and we have put her in the hospital tank to be treated, upon futher inspection of the regular tank we have noticed little white worms on the side of the glass. Can anyone tell me what these are and what to do about them. The look like what tiny maggots would look like. Please help!

they are very common in aquariums ........planaria ...they are completely harmless to your fish and a good source of food ....they usualy develop from overfeeding ...heres the only cure i beleive will eradicate the planaria completely ....but use extreme caution ..

I suspect the popeye and planaria are link. Planaria usually only occur in a tank where there has been overfeeding, and overfeeding usually results in poor water quality. Popeye is a bacteria infection that fish get when the water quality is poor

The solution is to firstly reduce feeding, only feed what your fish will eat in 2 mins and no more and only once a day. Also get yourself a test kit (the liquid bottle type- not the test strips) and post the results for your tank here please. In the meantime do a 50% water change now and then 25% every day for a week. Add an anit-bacteria to your tank and follow the instructions.

For long term fish keeping test your water weekly and if the nitrates go above 40 then increase the frequency or volume of water changes
I can't get no sleep
