Hello:

Been a while since I have logged on this board. All is well except for my fish Wolfgang. He seems happy and hasn't changed in behavior but he has developed small holes on his pectoral fins ranging from the size of a pinhole to a pencil tip.

He is alone in a 75 gallon tank and his water parameters are 0 ammonia, 0 nitite, 8.2 ph, and 10ppm nitrite. I am really not sure if it's a type of fin rot or what. He gets regular water changes of about 30% and fed 2-3 times daily and no live food. Any help would be appreciated and sorry no pics at the moment.

Thanks!

Matt

The holes seem pretty new. Thanks for chiming in. Hopefully it's nothing as Wolfgang lives a very sheltered and clean lifestyle.

one of my oscar has pinhole in its tail, so the name came from.
but for the pectoral fin, perhaps it is a finrot fungi. try to raised
your water temp to 80, deg for 10 days as precautionary measure. just
agitate your water to make up for oxygen loses.

Both my Oscars have little pin holes in their fins funny that its both on the left one. I don't think that its any fungus or anything. Just keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse.

I would try a heavier dose of water treatment, that has a fish slime protection added.Or a separate treatment like stress coat. it could be stress due to water changes or from the temperature of the new water. Or possibly trace chlorine in the new water. try to heat new water or make it close to tank temperature. small holes in fins could be early signs something isn't perfect usually water temp, conditions, or trace heavy metals. i would not be happy if my fish had small holes in the fins and would seek out why.
