I have an albino Oscar. For the past few days it has been swimming at the surface of the water. So close to the surface that the dorsal fins are above the water. It has also been swimming vertically as if it is disoriented.....Please help, what do I do to save my fish.....

Hi and Welcome... I have a few questions to ask so I can help you...

1, How big is your tank
2, How long has it been running
3. How big is your Oscar
4. What are your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate readings?

The answers to these will help us help you! Thanks Nicki

X2 with the above questions. i would have thought swim bladder infection from what you say. any chance of a short video clip, that would give us the best picture of whats going on along with the answers as above.

if it is swim bladder infection i would waste No time and treat ASAP. its not always successful so early treatment is your best bet. your local pet dealer should do a suitable medication. you will need aquarium salt too. you could do a search, above right for more posts on swim bladder infection.

X3

Sounds like swimbladder. Curing this can be a bit hit and miss so start treating straight away and cross your finger. In the meantime answer the question and also do a 50% water change
