I just got a 3 inch oscar two days ago and he has been twirling around his tank, bumping into walls, and laying on his side. His tank is a 55 gallon. No tank mates. Temperature is 78. Ph is 7.0. No ammonia. I have done a 30% water change as well. What is wrong with my oscar?!?

i'm afraid your tank is not fully cycled when you got the fish.
how long have you had your tank running?

if it is a new set up, i suggest you get Prime to help out your fish.

btw, welcome to OFL

Hi and Welcome.

Is your tank cycled? How long did it cycle? What are your readings for nitrite and nitrate?

that is what i thought..... get a Prime to ease out the fish. fill the tank
halfway and do regular water change and feed sparingly.

It's not cycled well. You'll have to continue water changes, add some prime as Paul recommended. You did use a water conditioner. I hope the issue can be resolved quickly. We'll help as much as possible.

Ok, now that it has calmed down in here, I would like to clarify what you have said.

Ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 18

And the tank has been running for less than a week?

what you can do is to lift the discharge point of your pump to agitate your water,
the effect of free flowing water could create current and will comfort your fish.
