Hello, I'm new to this forum...the main reason I joined actually was hoping u guys could help me out with this.. I haven't baught the full kit to test all of the water conditions....but here's a pic.. Any ideas what it is and how I can fix it???

My two tiger oscars have had this for about a couple months now....they used to get better than pass it back to the other..type sort of thing. But the one can't shake it at all this time? Seems like it comes and goes..but never fully leaves.

The patches of scales missing is replaced by fuzzly like and thready pies hanging out of the fish...any help guys!??

Hi and Welcome. That dear sounds like a Fungus... You can get meds at your local fish store!

what meds to get tho?

I forgot to tell everyone i tried ermythrocin...but it seems like the dose wasnt enough to fullfill the instructions???

It sounds as if some fungus is growing on the wounds. This is not serious if you catch it early. I think you should try a fungal medication, your fish store should have something that will help. You may also want to check your water quality, normally wounds heal perfectly okay without this problem happening, but only if water quality is good. If possible, please try and post your water results, ammonia, nitrates, nitrates and pH. Remove any carbon before medicating your tank

sounds like the same thing that mysteriously got in my tank a few months ago. melafix cured it for me.

well, its wierd, the fish were fine..no wounds, then all of the sudden these white lines started slowly growing day by day through and around the scales until patches started to come off, now it just stays and goes week by week

I have no clu about the photobucket thing so far..haha..not a huge fan of computer's... I did post pictures in my profile if u could take a look? il work on the photobucket. thanks

after looking at the pics im going to have to agree with paul, it looks like its either been injured by another fish or is scraping on something sharp in its tank. but the photo wasnt the clearest so its kinda hard to tell.

i just based my observation on the pattern of the scrape on both sides of the
body. they have the same line but of different location...the first one being
infront portion of the body while the other is at the tail portion....

I concur, he seems to have injured himself, good idea Paul about the sleeping location. I recognize these injuries, my own oscar was injured when he leaped from the aquarium. As long as your water remains in pristine condition he should recover nicely.
