okay so a couple days ago i notice my bichir... appears to be turning into a hunchback???

just took these two pics a few mins ago.





is that back fat??? lol... like a camel??? ive been feeding it really healthy stuff like krill and scallops, as well as any feeder fish its able to catch and devour...

im just hoping its not a bowel obstruction.

but the wierd part is, when it eats, the belly is what gets lumpy... why does it have a hump on its back?

its wierd. lil fella is just as active as ever, still has a strong appetite, and eats when i put food in there for him... but... this hump on his back just looks wierd, and ive never seen anything like that in the pics of bichirs ive seen... maybe hes just over fed and getting fat???

I have no idea, but I think it is something to keep an eye on in case it starts getting bigger. Without worrying you unduly growths can obviously go these deformities but I think it's a bit early to start speculating about this

Don't know much about these Bichir. any chance it could have eaten something much larger than it should and its just that? i think a few others on here have Bichir see what they say. how quick you think it came up? did it grow bigger or just came up that size?

its like it wasnt there, and now it is. ive fed it some krill over the past week trying to get it to eat something besides live feeders, and so far krill is the only thing its eaten since ive bought it beside live feeder fish. it would just eat them whole, it look like a snake eating a mouse but only a fish eating a krill. i cant see it getting a blockage, when i first had it the first two weeks every day it was eating two feederfish and they were 2" and it was only 3.5" and almost as big around as it was. im really hoping its not krill related. i guess i need to watch it closely and see if it passes anything.

No chance of it eating something sharp that could have punctured the inside and got jammed? there is a very good chance it will pass, so yeah a wait and see thing I guess.

Just had a thought can you put your ear close to the tank and see if you can hear bells sorry

lol i almost named it "bichir Quasimodo??" instead marcus lol. the only thing that could be inside that fish is krill or feeder fish or gravel or a piece of one of the plants. and it aint eat no plant lol.

your birchir appears to be moving around fine but the bulges on the back and stomac have me a little concerned. i wish i had more experience with them but alas i dont.
