Ow, I got no expierience here, but are you sure it's a leak?
Not just condensated water that dripped from the lid?
Is there a crack , and where exactly is the leak?

do you think the 10 gal will do just for a day or two while i fix the tank??

Can you run your filter on the small tank?
How many fish were in there now?

When you tranfer the filter and heater(watch the temp for you do not want to boil your fish!!!) the tank should be good to go.
Toxins will buildt up fast in there but it will be okay for one day.
Just don't feed your O anymore before you start.
One day shouldt be sufficient for the silicone to dry out, but please check the instructions on the box for exact time with the brand you'll use.
If it takes 2 days you can allways change 30% of the water to keep parameters in check.

ok but thats the thing the 10 gal has its own filter and heater so what can i do with the filter in the big tank so i wont have to recycle the big tank could i just get a big container it will fit in and put some old fish water in it and leave the filter running????

That would be your best option.
Is the filter cycled in the small tank?
If there were no fish in it, it probably isn't cycled.

Don't shut down the filter.
The bacteria will need the fishpoo to survive but at least some of the colony will survive in the large bucket.
What kind of filter is it?
It won't fit in the 10Gl, i guess?

in all fairness not sure how many options u actaully have

if it was me id make that 10 gal as suitable as possible with wateva filtration u can get and get the water heated.

drain yr big tank and sort out the leak i.e get some silicon on the leaked area (if that is the problem)

then try and get yr large tank back to normal a.s.a.p
