Yesterday my O`s ate their night meal of earthworms and Hikari pellets.Today and also into tonight one of my O`s is gasping a little and not swimming up to the tank everytime I pass the tank.He is swimming around slowly but not reacting to anything.He also looks to have some poo coming out that won`t go any further.(Been like that for at least 5 hours.) I have heard you guys mention green peas to help with constipation but he ignores them. If he can`t go by morning what else can I do. Water tested at .25 ammonia,0 nitrites,20 nitrates,ph 6.2.No fiter changes or anything else other than 30% water changes for weeks.All other fish are fine. Thanks

Try putting in both foods at the same time.
Never heard of O constupation lol

Your water isnt good. Do daily 25-20% water changes until ammonia and nitrite are zero. Read the section on this site about cycling

your ammonia isn't that bad. it should be 0 for both ammonia and nitrites but as you have a low ph of 6.2 you will be ok with your water. seams your filter isn't cycled yet. how long has it been set up?

its been 3 days since you posted this has it got any better? if you continue to do the water changes as you have been doing things should be ok. most oscars won't eat peas. best way to tackle this is buy some meal worm. feed the meal worm peas or carrots then give the meal worm to the oscar. ))))

The problem is getting better. I switched filters almost a month ago. My old bio material wasn`t near enough to make do but was enough to get my fx5 seeded. I have been doing water changes and now its taking 4-5 days for ammonia to start creeping up. I suspect it is better than .25ppm because the yellow and geenish yellow in the test tube are real close in color. Oscar is better and I will take advise on the meal worm pea trick. Thanks.
