I just set up my tank a few days ago, its nice and warm. I put my oscer in there and now he acts like hes in shock. Hes still breathing and moves every so often, but he wont eat, wont move that much. What sould I do!

Unfortunately it's not just a case of filling your tank with water and putting your fish in. You have got to prepare the tank so that it can support life. Your filters are not just for removing solid waste, they are also designed to remove the toxins that fish create when they breathe and defecate. If you haven't cycled your aquarium then there is a very real chance that your fish is being poisoned to death. The fact that it is behaving in the manner it is certainly supports this theory.

You need to test your water for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and pH. If you haven't got any test kits then you need to get a sample of water down to your local fish store ASAP and get them to test it for you, while you're there, pick up some test kits because you'll need them.

Could you please give us some information about your aquarium/filtration etc

so what we can do is to help cope with the situation....

@foreverurz23..if you can return the fish to the lfs...do so and have your
tank cycled first before buying it back..... or get a prime or ammolock
and do monitor your tank in the process. you will need to do a daily water
change 20% to make sure your fish will survive. just do not clean your filter
in the duration and fill your tank to 1/2 only to expedite ammonia/nitrite buffer.

Return your oscar and get a couple of goldfish. Read the section on the site about cycling. When your filter is cycled then return the goldfish and get an oscar!!1
