Wow...

I came home today after work to find my power had been out for 30 minutes...

Filter and air pump were off for about about hour...

Thank the heavens i brought a Battery air pump....

If you don't have one... get one NOW!

Question...
How long would it last for?.... found no info on the BOX.

Think it was a resun air pump with 2x d size batteries...

It's been collecting dust for about 4 months until today...

has anyone had to rely on battery pumps for a few days with power outages?

Also would it have been a good idea to do a 10% water change after the power had out for so long?. (30min)

i have a 3foot x 18in x18 in tank with 1 oscar and a convict.
i'm going to get some spare batteries tomorrow .

Thanks

in 2006, we were hit by typhoon and make our place powerless for 20 days..
all my fishes were then grilled and consumed...don't get mad at me...
every body knows i started this hobby for foods..... i lost all my fishes.

last year , we were hit again by strong typhoon and flooded the whole area.
fortunately, water supply remains stable, i just allow free flowing water
for 6 days and all fishes survive.....

battery is handy during short period of brown out.... i suggest an elevated
drum full of water will serve as aerating gadgets when there is no power...
just collect the overflow water in a bucket and put it back to the elevated
drum for recycling...

they sell those battery powered airators in the sporting goods department with the fishing supplies, they clip into a minnow bucket to keep your bait alive.

i live out of town, (in the country for uk readers)
and when we first moved here had numerous power cuts, so i ended up buying a diesel key start generator, and used it a FEW times, it has run the tv sky couple of fish tanks, and a few computers/routers i now have 4 large tanks and to be honest we have not had a power outage since i have all those set up, but pretty sure it will run them no problem,

i have the generator in a corner of the garden, and run a lead to a bank of plugs and then leads to wherever, my son used to sulk when the power was out as he couldn't do his gaming lol but problem solved now

just found the receipt and cost was about £350
