Hi,

New to Oscars. Brought two young ones home yesterday.
First feeding and the smallest has a pellet stuck in his mouth/throat. Is this normal?
Should I just wait? Will it disolve on its own?

Thanks!

can you actually see the pellet? Does the fish seem distressed at all?

yeah, can definately see the pellet.
It was a little too big for him. Swelled up in the water and in his throat.
He finally got it out. Will crush the pellets a little next time and alternate with frozen blood worms.

Thanks

Mine do it all the time when i feed them frozen krill. They don't need there throat like humans do to breath, they usually spit it out when they had enough.

normal for a juvenile that eats like a pig...
see this pig with bloated belly and open mouth due to food in it.
