I have a albino oscar that is sick. it was in a 75 gallon tank with another oscar and pacu that my fiance brought home one day. the pacu has quickly outgrown the oscars and has been beating up on them. anyways i noticed yesterday the white oscar had a mucus like strand just swaying from its body and looked to be gasping for air. i immediately took him out and put him in a temporary 10 gallon tank as he is only about 3 inches long. i noticed today that he had some more of this slimy looking stuff on him. he has also taken a beating from the bigger pacu as his fins are pretty eatin up.

does anyone know what this could be and how to treat it? i think it has something to do with the pacu beating up on him but it started a few days after i did the usual 20% water change. water parameters are good as usual. and i dont own a camera so i cant give pictures although i wish i could. any advice?

Welcome to our community, sorry it isn't on the better circumstances.

Before we can help you you are going to need to test your water for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates and pH. I strongly suspect that your water conditions are not really very good, that is why your fish are having problems. If you haven't got a test kit, you will have to get one, will take a sample of water to your fish store and get them to test it for you. I must say that your tank is only big enough for one Oscar so you are going to have to think about reducing the amount of fish you have got if you want to keep them healthy long-term.

If I was you, I would find a new home for the pacu, they need at least 100 gallons to themselves when they get a lot bigger. We are here to help, but we need more information.
