hi friends, i got a wild baby oscar 2 days back.and i have a 30 gallon tank.and the water parameters are good.but he is just staying at the bottom of the tank and he wont come to the top.but when i give live food,he is active.there are no visible spots on him.wat could be the reason.pls help me!!!

the normal new tank syndrome wherein fish will stay aloft while familiarizing
itself to the new environment.... however, your tank will be getting smaller
every day and will need to upgrade soon....

how long have you set up the tank?
what kind of filtration?

since it is taking live foods, that is already a good sign.

yeah i agree to, actual water readings would help us rule anything nasty out but chances r its just getting used to yr set up

You do realize that your tank is about half the size it should be for one Oscar? You really should be thinking about upgrading ASAP at Oscars are very very fast growing fish and you really don't have any time on your hands. Within a year they could be 10 inches easily.

as ofl pointed out your situation can only get worst if you don't do something about the tank size. its a very common mistake unfortunately for the oscars. big fish need big tanks and filters. have you cycled the tank?

trust us man, were not just being picky, yr fish health will be in serious danger in an undersized tank...hope yr planning on a quick upgrade, if so, spot on!
