TOPIC: Little Hole on pectoral fin what to do??

Little Hole on pectoral fin what to do?? 2 years, 2 months ago #86830

I just came back from a 4 days vacation to see my oscar that is not eating at all and has a little hole on one of the pectoral fins !!!!

I did a full water change 50 % first then waited like 3 hours and did another 50% , im worried about that hole in the fin and the fact that he isnt eating at all...

should I keep changing water everyday or can I buy something from the LFS???

thanks again... he is swimming normally

Oscar tend to get their fins damaged on the decorations.
With pristine water conditions, fins will heal in no time.
I wouldn't advice such a large waterchange in one day though, except for emergencies.
Did you use Prime /Decholrinator when doing the waterchange?
Can you test your water for Ammonia-nitrites-nitrates and pH?
If you post those results we can give you more specific advice.

Your water is perfect, just what we like to see, and the hole in the fin I wouldn't be concerned with... But I would keep an eye on the mouth...

i have tried to modified the link. the damage at the mouth shows it is normal
due to moving substrate. eventually, it will develop a big mole under the chin.

x2, mealworms allways get my O eating.
You may spoil your O and he may stop eating pellets after tasting live food.
Glad your tests came out fine.

Im not surprised your fish isnt eating. The swelling/pimple has swollen into the mouth, its probably sore. Oscars get a pimple on the outside of the bottom lip, yours has also swollen up on the inside. I would keep a very very close eye on it. Hopefully it will go down
