OK...so this has been on my glass for the last few days. I have no idea what it is and would love if some knowledge could be bestowed on me. These pics gradually get farther back, but you can still see it on the glass in the 3rd pic.

These do seem to be alive and even if I wipe the glass clean they are all bunched up in this spot the next morning. This spot is where there is the least water current force, if that might help explain why they are so bunched together.

Do I need to worry?

Yeah they don't seem to be any harm...but I'm just really not sure. I think that the reason they are so close in proximity to each other is because of the water flow in my tank.

This water flow has worked great for me. It pushes all the excrement to the rocks on the left side of the tank...leaving the right side of the tank with clean sandy substrate.

Those are Plantiera (sp?) They are often caused by over feeding...They are harmless.. Scrape them off or leave them be... They wont hurt anything either way!

Interesting...I guess i'll have to check my feeding amounts. Thanks...I googled "plantiera" and found nothing...I'll keep looking though...I'm curious now.

Those excrement on the left side of the substrate, can you really let it built up to that? How often do you vacuum? Just curious..

I do a 50% water change every week. That pic was taken right before a cleaning. I needed to get the pic of the organisms on the glass before disturbing them with a cleaning. Their numbers have dropped since I cleaned the tank. Also that is all the excrement. The right side of the tank has perfectly clean sand. I try to stay on top of it, but Os poop alot...hehe

Are your water parameters in check? because what I do with mine is everyday vacuuming. I can't stand seeing poops in my tank.

I check for ammonia and ph regularly and I haven't had any issues. I just don't have time for everyday vaccums with school and work. I hate the poop too...that's why I've tried to set the water flow up this way. I'm working on tweaking the positioning of the rocks to where they will hide the poo that accumulates.
