My ammonia levels have been spiked the last week. Its a 3-4 week old tank. I know its cycling but I can't get the ammonia down. Its 8ppm right now my nitrites are 2 and my nitrates are 10. I have a 75 gallon with a 20 gallon sump, bio balls, recently added an emperor 280 just for the heck of it. I added carbon to that. I added a bag of these crystals that are supposed to get rid of ammonia yesterday.I have been doing water changes every day. Cut back on feeding. Switched to Prime Seachem declorinator. Added stress zyme, added ammo lock last week...what else can I do???

I wouldn't advise using all the chemicals you have been, one or the other.don't forget that these products such as prime don't get rid of ammonia, they convert them to a non-toxic form, you will still get an ammonia reading.

What fish have you got at the moment? I would suggest that you do water change every other day, around 30%. If you are using prime, you should be okay. You've got to remember that to cycle a tank, you need ammonia. So if you are changing large amounts of water every day, the process is going to be very slow.Unfortunately, cycling a fish tank is a very dangerous time for any fish, there isn't really anyway around it, unless of course you use prime (and hope that it actually works)

Stick with it, feed your fish very sparingly and undertake a change every other day. The fact that you've got a nitrate reading indicates that you have got bacteria starting to build up.
