My lemon oscar has had cloudy eye since I got him about 3 months ago, it hasn't got any worse or better, I was just wondering if I didn't get the treatment for it will it be ok?

I am surprised that the fish shop let the fish go with a cloudy eye. With the benefit of hindsight, you should have either got them to give you another fish, or ask them to treat the fish for you, or give you medication for it.

Since it has been three months and the condition doesn't seem to have improved, there is obviously some underlying problem causing this. There are various factors that can cause fish to develop cloudy eyes. This can be poor water conditions, trauma, parasitic and bacterial infections. I would suggest that you treat the tank with a broad based antibacterial medication. Also have a very close look at the I and see if you can see anything out of place. Sometimes parasites are visible to the naked eye. There is of course the possibility that the it has been damaged irreparably. In this case, your Oscars should learn to cope with only one good eye.

3 months is a long time for a fish to have a cloudy eye especially as it hasnt got worse or better. For a cloudy eye i would recommend treating with myxazin daily or some other anti bacterial treatment. As OFL says check water parameters for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate and post the results. Lots of water changes may help and certainly wont do any harm

It may be that your fish will be blind in one eye which although not nice should not be a problem. A pic would help too

Oh the fish shops here sell whatever fish they can get, they sell O's with HITH and missing eyes even, but I didn't even notice it until I got him home and he turned so I could see it. He seems to do just fine with it, he had a hard time with food until I got rid of his mean friend that took all the food. I had my water tested at the fish store Saturday when I gave them a fish and she said all my levels were near perfect. I do water changes almost everyday as it is. I'll have to try to find a camera to use to get a picture of him.
