About 3 days ago a flaw in my fish tank caused it to bust. My two oscars flew out of it and onto the floor. Their in a new tank and the male is ok, but the females tail fin was frayed. Now its almost gone and im at a lose of what to do. I don't know if it's from stress or if she got hurt, but I realy need help! She's still eating and swimming but it's almost a nub now and realy don't want to loose her! please someone help!

Welcome to the community.

Can you provide a photograph? Fin rot is caused by a bacterial infection. Have you tested your water for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH? I think it would be a good idea to check to see how good your water quality is. This problem with the fins could possibly be due to stress. I think it may be an idea to treat the tank with stress coat, this won't hurt.

However, we really need to know your water conditions and if possible, see a photograph

I'v checked the water quality 3 times and it all came back ok. i'v used some melafix in case of fin rot, but after the accident I had to move them into my tetra 10 gallon tank for 3 days and thats when the symptoms started. I'll go get some stress coat in the next hour.

Obviously as soon as you can get the fish back into a decent aquarium and make sure the water quality is good, hopefully the healing process should start, but it will take quite a while for the fins to grow back properly, hopefully they will

How many people on the site have an extra tank running for 'emergencies' like this one.

If you have 4 or 5 tanks running the chances are one of them will go 'BANG' at some time.

I have my 30 gallon pre-treatment water holding container complete with heater I could (and have once) toss my oscar into in an emergency.

which of course wouldt eliminate the community in no time...
i hope my tanks never burst.

What happened to the tank in the first place?
Our fish don't grow too big, our tank becomes too small!
